Taner Yilmaz, MD, Professor of Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. I graduated and completed residency in the same university and department. I am a laryngologist and phonosurgeon. I perform exclusively laryngeal and phonosurgical procedures in my practice; I don't do any other ENT operations.
I am a member of European Laryngological Society, International Association of Phonosurgery and American Laryngological Association. I try to participate in every ELS, IAP and ALA meeting and present a paper there. My main interest topics are thyroplasty type I and arytenoid adduction or adduction arytenopexy for unilateral vocal fold paralysis, arytenoidectomy for bilateral vocal fold paralysis, transoral laryngeal microsurgery for early glottic cancer, surgery for voice feminization and transoral surgery for glottic and supraglottic stenosis.
I published various new surgical procedures for the above-mentioned topics. I have 2 patents, one on laryngoscope used for arytenoidectomies and the other on epiglottis holding forceps to prevent floppy epiglottis from folding inside the larynx during direct laryngoscopy. I published 98 international manuscripts, received around 1300 citations; my h-index is currently 22.
